The next morning, Lucas gathered everyone in the grand dining room.
Security guards.
House managers.
Servants.
Personal assistants.
Even Lily and her mother, Emma Carter.
Emma stood nervously beside her daughter.
She was a housekeeper who had only worked there for six months.
Lucas slowly stood.
His face remained expressionless.
“Who gave Lily access to this floor?”
Nobody answered.
“Because if she had not come upstairs…”
He paused.
“…I would be dead.”
The room froze.
Then Lucas walked toward Lily.
The billionaire giant knelt in front of her.
“Thank you.”
Lily blinked.
“Are you gonna die again?”
Several people almost laughed.
Lucas actually smiled.
“No.”
She nodded seriously.
“Good. Because I don't have another inhaler.”
The entire room fell silent.
Lucas looked at Emma.
“Why was that her last inhaler?”
Emma lowered her head.
“Insurance stopped covering her medicine. I couldn't afford another one yet.”
Lucas's jaw tightened.
At that moment, Victor Romano stepped forward.
“Lucas, perhaps we should discuss business matters instead.”
Lily suddenly tugged Lucas's sleeve.
“Mister.”
“Yes?”
“The angry man was here last night.”
Victor froze instantly.
Lucas slowly turned.
“What did she say?”
Lily pointed directly at Victor.
“He was hiding behind the wall.”
Emma's face turned white.
Victor smiled politely.
“She must be confused.”
But Lily shook her head.
“No.”
Then she said the words that changed everything.
“He said if you died, everything would finally belong to him.”
The entire room went silent.
Victor's smile disappeared.
Lucas stared at his oldest friend.
